Anarchy's Rogue Rubikan - Episode 2

ROGUE RUBIKAN CAUGHT ON FILM

Last week, I followed up on a tip from the Clan Party Mixer at the Junk Food Bar in Old Athen. It seems that he and other vendors have been harassed by the rogue Rubikan I revealed in my previous report. The incriminating photos only told part of the story, and as I get deeper into this investigation, it is becoming increasingly clear that I have not even scratched the surface yet.

Field reporting can be exciting, but it can also be dangerous, as there is known risk in covering perceived criminal activities. What initially appeared as harassment and personal disputes, has now become more than I ever expected. New and mysterious information is unraveling as I follow the activities of this rogue. Someone has also stepped forward out of the shadows as an informant, but the validity of the information is yet to be determined.

I have my work cut out for me, but I don't mind taking risks if it means getting at the truth. There is no doubt in my mind that more individuals will surface. As I file this report, I can tell you that what I have heard and witnessed thus far involves activities that have the potential to not only be disruptive to various services within the community, but also disgrace and discredit the medical profession. I am reserving any reported information on the latter until such time that I have more substantial evidence.

I have come to the conclusion that photos alone will not sufficiently support the level of evidence needed to reveal the full scope of the activities I am speaking of, and therefore, I am employing the use of my video camera. I did not use it in my initial report because I was under the impression that the rogue Rubikan's activities were just a simple case of dispute and harassment. I could not have been more wrong.

As I held my position in the shadows with video camera rolling, the rogue continued to stand over the dead body of the Mongol Meats vendor incessantly yelling obscenities and exhibiting strange behavior. I could only catch a few things he said, like ... "She told me what you did." However, at this point, I still don't know who she is, but perhaps it is the sister that has been mentioned a few times now.

While the dead vendor lay on the ground, his not-so-fully-recovered new body appeared behind the counter. The rogue caught it from his peripheral vision and engaged him in battle immediately. In a matter of seconds, there were now two dead bodies at the feet of the rogue who continued with his ramblings that produced a hint of evidence that there was some kind of covert operation taking place somewhere in the community. I could only make out ... "(inaudible) ... and take your crap back to the Shadowlands." As well as ... "It doesn't matter what (inaudible) says, she will never leave Rubi-Ka." I could only speculate that this might once again be about someone's sister who is brought into conversations now and then.

I cringed when I saw the vendor appear behind the Mongol Meats counter again. Perhaps there is a flaw in the matrix, and our brilliant scientists need to research a process that will make our DNA reconstruction faster. The weaker form during recovery makes us vulnerable to continued and vicious attacks such as what I was witnessing. I still don't know what the full story is, but I was beginning to feel sorry for the vendor.

My thoughts were interrupted however by the blast of the rogue's Perrenium Beamer, and another confrontation that I knew would end in the vendor's continued death. It seems the rogue also has a sense of humor as demonstrated by his comical behaviors during battle. Death is a serious matter, but I often found myself covering my mouth while filming so that I wouldn't be heard and reveal my presence.

I guess the rogue felt he tortured the Mongol Meats vendor enough when he turned and headed for the cross street. Veering left, I knew exactly where he was headed. I was certain that the Clan Party Mixer was destined to become his next victim. However, I had to make sure that the Clan Party Mixer did not see me, as he is unaware that I am the Rubi-Ka Times Reporter investigating this activity. When he gave me the heads up last week about the rogue Rubikan, he was doing it from the perspective of alerting all Old Athen citizens. It was in passing, and we did not exchange names. I just didn't want him to shout a warning to back away, and in turn alert the rogue of my presence.

I kept up with the chase the best I could, and upon arriving at the Junk Food Bar, the bickering had already started. Back and forth, back and forth, until the rogue could take no more and opened fire. I did however hear comments about smuggled and inferior products. Oh, and the sister was mentioned again, but who is she? This mystery gets more complex as time goes on.

The fighting between the rogue and the Clan Party Mixer continued, and once again the rogue prevailed by taking the vendor down. He didn't think twice about running over to his body and exhibiting more strange behavior with laughing, hand gestures, and yelling obscenities, but not before he took out an innocent bystander.

Once the rogue reached the Clan Party Mixer's body by the counter, he was laughing so heartily at one point, that he was bent over at the waist, but as soon as he stood up, he realized that the Clan Party Mixer had returned. Still in recovery from the DNA reconstruction, the rogue uttered a statement that I was able to capture during filming. Once again, he opened fire on the vendor, but this round brought the Clan Party Mixer out from behind the counter and into the street where the battle continued.

I guess I don't need to tell you that the rogue prevailed yet again, but not without further exhibition of his contorted sense of humor. He took pride in continued mockery and bullying even while the Clan Party Mixer lay dead at his feet. Laughter, flamboyant hand and arm waving, and muscle flexing seemed to bring joy to the rogue in his victory over the vendor.

After a few moments of self-indulgence, the rogue started running down the street. I had no clue where he might be off to, but I gave chase to keep up. It ultimately led to the grid where I lost him, but not before catching yet another death at the grid terminal of some other food supplier by someone other than the rogue, who basically shrugged it off. Unfortunately, I didn't enter the grid fast enough, and while I thought I caught a glimpse of him heading toward a particular exit, I couldn't be certain. One thing I am certain of however, is that this story is reaching beyond just the rogue and the vendors, as well as outside of Old Athen's city limits. Where this will lead me, I can't say, but I am more determined than ever to find the truth.
